What to Expect

If you are being sedated you must have a responsible adult remain at the ASC with you the entire time you are here. Your driver will receive your discharge instructions and speak with the physician after your procedure. Please notify the front desk staff at check-in if you do not want information related to your procedure disclosed to the person driving you home. No driver is required for patients not being sedated (Laser, some pain procedures, etc.)

Please notify us immediately at 969-2133 if you have any of the following conditions:

  • Allergy to latex, eggs, peanuts or soy
  • Pacemaker
  • Defibrillator

Someone from our Pre-Op department will call you the business day prior to your procedure. If we are unable to get in touch with you, please follow these general guidelines:

• Notify your physician’s office if there is any change in your physical condition (i.e. fever, nausea, cold symptoms, difficulty breathing)
• If you have not been contacted the business day prior to your procedure, please call us at 850-969-2121 and ask to speak to Pre-op for specific instructions.
• If you have not been notified of your payment due at time of service 5 business days prior to your procedure date, please call us at 850-969-2121.
• If you wear contact lenses or glasses, please be sure to bring a case with you.
• Unless you have been instructed otherwise, do not eat or drink anything after midnight the day before your procedure (including gum, mints, and chewing tobacco). You may brush your teeth, but do not swallow anything. Failure to comply with these instructions may result in your procedure being rescheduled.
• Please make arrangements to have a responsible adult stay with you the entire time you are at the Ambulatory Surgery Center. A responsible adult must be present at the time of check-in, remain in the waiting area during the time of surgery, be available to receive your discharge instructions, and be available to drive the you home.You cannot drive yourself or be left alone if you are being sedated. Failure to bring a responsible adult driver that can stay the entire length of your procedure will result in the procedure being rescheduled.

Day of Surgery

• Please bathe or shower prior to your procedure. Do not use makeup, body lotions or oils after bathing.
• Wear loose, comfortable clothing and flat, comfortable shoes. Please remove all body piercings.
• Please do not bring any valuables with you to your surgery. The Ambulatory Surgical Center will not be responsible for lost money, and loss or damage to jewelry, dentures, teeth, glasses, personal property or other valuables brought into the Center.
• You will be asked to sign a form giving your consent for your procedure. If the patient is under 18, a legal guardian must sign the consent and remain with the patient.

Sign In
• We use an iPad kiosk for sign-in. Please enter your name and choose your physician when prompted. After signing in, have a seat in the lobby and we will call you shortly for check-in. If you need assistance signing in, please do not hesitate to ask.

Check-in
• We will need your insurance card, picture ID, pre-anesthesia form, and any payment due when you are admitted. Please have this information ready.

Wait Times
• We understand your time is valuable, and we do everything we can to run the Ambulatory Surgical Center as efficiently as possible. We provide all of our patients with the best quality of care while they are being seen. Please expect some wait time from the time you check-in to the time you are called back to your procedure.

After Surgery

• Before you leave, you will be given written discharge instructions for your care at home. Be sure to follow your doctor’s orders on the instructions.
• Most patients only stay at the center for a short time after surgery. When you get home, you may be drowsy. Be sure to rest and take it easy after your surgery. Do not make any important decisions, sign any important papers, drive a car, smoke, drink alcoholic beverages, operate machinery, or cook for 24 hours following your surgery.
• Contact your physician with any questions or concerns following surgery.
• A nurse from our center will contact you the day after your procedure to check on you and answer any questions you may have. If we are unable to reach you, call 850-969-2121 and ask to speak with Post-Op.
